My Spam Sushi Experience In Hawaii!

I heard Spam was big in Hawaii and has been for some time - you can even find it on the Burger King menu. What I was most interested in however, was SPAM Sushi - yeah you heard me...SPAM SUSHI! I just had to check it out for myself...

After hitting up a few Japanese restuarants in Maui - without any luck - I finally asked a waitress where I could get my hands on this SPAM Sushi I've been hearing about.

Apparently it's not really served in restaurants, but rather something you pick up at the supermarket or convenience store. In Hawaii, SPAM Sushi is on par with a hot dog.

Cheap and Chubby - SPAM Sushi is actually pretty good. Reminds me of Rice Balls in Japan. In fact, the demographics of SPAM Sushi are very similar to the Rice Balls of Japan. The SPAM lends a saltiness which works really well with the sushi rice and the seaweed.

If you're hungry...pound two SPAM Sushi bricks and you're good to go!
